The Week End Report Feb 9 and 10

The Week End Report.

This is really disturbing. It seems Ohio is trampling on its own state constitution in order to keep Federal money flowing to its coffers. But the issue is that the cost of the new law would far outstrip any amount of money the state would be eligible for from the Fed, some law enforcement authorities say.

The controversy is so big that there are judges in some of Ohio's counties that refuse to enforce the law. They issue stays from their bench as cases reach their courtrooms. It also looks like there have been over 80 civil challenges to this new law since it too effect back on Jan 2, 2008.

It is a law rewritten in order to comply with the Federal Adam Walsh Child Safety Protection Act. This law in and of itself is a huge constitutional bug a boo. But Ohio is taking this law a step further. It seems that this law would also be retroactive. This means that if a deal was made prior to this law and you did what you were called to do under the old law, you can forget it. That deal would be thrown out, you would still be convicted under the old law but would now have to abide by the new law no matter what your previous deal was. It could mean that if you were a juvenile sex offender, you would have to register for life.

It could be that if you followed the law and bought a home in a “legal” area under the old law, you may be forced to move under the new law. It could mean that if you bought some porn, you could be arrested and convicted of pandering and then would have to have special license plates for you car, have to register as a sex offender and would be barred from living in many places in the state and would have to get permission before you could move out of the state. Just for buying some porn?

Even I have to agree with the ACLU on this one. Even some child protection groups are working with the ACLU to fight this law. Its ridiculous. It tramples on individual rights. It crushes the state constitution. It enacts retroactively and it slaps the US Constitution to the curb. This is a bad law period and its a threat to individual liberty in all states.

It looks like the Tax Rebate is a done deal. The main problem with this thing is that people who do not pay any taxes are getting a "rebate". Now that is like you walking into a Best Buy, picking up a rebate form for buying a big screen LCD TV and sending it in without ever buying the TV.

Its not a rebate, its a redistribution of wealth and you and I are all paying for it. Not to mention such a tactic is really unlikely to boost the economy. If it is a good idea to let the American people keep more of their money to keep the economy going now, why is not just plain good policy to let the American people keep more of their hard earned money all the time?

Find out if you qualify and how to qualify for this rebate. By the way, of course I am going to keep my rebate and probably invest it instead of spend it willy nilly.

The housing slump. This is not a crisis. More than 95% of mortgages out there are being paid. So that means less than 5% are in some form of default. Now there are two ways to get out of this mess for that 5%. First, you bought the dang house now pay for it. Doesn't matter that you may have to give up lattes at Starbucks. Pay for the house. Whatever happened to personal honor and integrity when putting your signature on a note?

Second, you banks out there know what a mess you help create so why not buck up and go to the table and help those people in trouble. You will save yourself a lot of money in the end. You will protect your profits in the end. And you will keep the market from being flooded with empty homes which only drags down the value of all homes in that area. Think about it.

A bonus third. Keep the Fed out of it. They will only screw things up and make things worse. When was the last time the Fed was able to directly help a poor situation? Exactly, never. Let the market correct its mess. Don't bog down the industry with more regulation, how will that help? Stay out of it. Job growth is still there. Unemployment is still low. The economy is not in a recession or a tailspin so don't force it down the tubes. Let it be and it will work itself back to health in a few years.

In the mean time...people pay your bills. That will do more to help the economy than anything else the Fed can do.

Liberal Government run Amok

In the good old state of PA, there is a new fight going on. It is running smack up into the new economy. How many of you out there use Ebay or another online auction service to earn a good portion of your income? Well the Big Brother that is the PA state government thinks you should be prosecuted for not having an auctioneers license.

I kid you now. And buried in the story is how the Democrats want to "fix" the situation. They want to fix it by forcing you to interact with government. The Republicans want to pass a bill that will get the government out of your living room. I wonder which party is really a party for the people and which party wants to grab your money and run your life.

Check out the story here: Philly.com

There is just no way government should be in your living room. This could affect over half a million Americans who earn some or all of their income online via online auctions. Not to mention thousands of people who work for companies such as Ebay, Amazon, Yahoo, Google, etc.

So what now?

Romney is out. He bowed out with a lot of grace and style. I must admit I am a little disappointed in his withdrawal but it was no surprise. You see, in my view, Romney is just showing his true side. He is a guy of integrity and grace and style.

Some people say he is weak. If you saw his fight with Ted Kennedy back in 1992 when he ran for US Senate in MA, then you know this guy is not a coward. It was a nasty and hard fought campaign.

His run for the Governors office was not a pick-nick either. This guy is down for the fight when he wants to be. This guy does not back away from a challenge. But this time I think he was genuine when he said that it (this race) was not about him. He said it was about the GOP and the future of our nation.

I cannot say the same for Huckabee. This guy knows he cannot win the nomination but he stayed in simply because he knew he could hurt Romney and he did. So you could say Romney was not strong enough to fight the tag team of McCain/Huckabee.

No matter. Romney reminds us that we, as a party, need to put our foot forward and remember our conservative roots. We have to be united in order to beat back the liberals run for the White House.

I will be watching the Democrat race with much anticipation. In any even, history will be made this year. It would be ashame to miss history in the making.

By the way, even though I would not vote for him, I am pulling for Obama. Not because he is a black man, but because I can't stand Hillary. Its just that simple.

So that is what is next, watching the Democrats. They are a sneaky bunch.

Racist and Ignorant people Vote Democrat

Why Blacks should not support Democrats.

Blacks should not the Democrat Party in general. No minority group should support the Democrat Party in general. If you have read my comments anywhere on the web, here, Fool.com, ArgueWithEveryone, and many other boards and forums then you know I have no love for the Democrat Party in general.

History has shown us just how racist and bigoted the Democrat Party was and to an extent, still is. The Democrats believe that minorities, especially blacks, cannot make it in life without their help. The dirty little secret is that the Democrats are the reason that minorities have a harder than normal time making it.

Democrats have shown through out history to hate blacks and minorities. They have passed laws upholding segregation, poll taxes and much, much more. Democrats have shown through out history to be the major forces behind denying legislation that would give blacks and other minorities and equal voice in public discourse.

Civil Rights took so long to pass mainly because Democrats blocked its passage for decades before the 1960's. Indeed, the Democrat Party is the home of the KKK and slavery. This is documented fact and they cannot spin it any other way.

The Democrat Party had more members sitting in Congress who where also members of the KKK than any other party including the Republican Party. Republicans have been the ones to advance civil liberty. Republicans have been the one who went to war to right a terrible wrong that was known as slavery.

As blacks succeed and join the ranks of the middle class and the upper class, you will notice that they tend to register and vote Republican. They specifically vote conservative. Republicans believe in the human spirit. Republicans believe that each individual has and equal opportunity to shine and become successful in any en devour they choose so long as government gets out of their way.

Democrats want to continue destroying urban minority families with their welfare policies and other public policies. They keep our schools in the inner city a mess. After all they are the ones who control most schools. Democrats are the largest block against vouchers or any kind of school choice.

A Democrat founded Planned Parent Hood and its original goal was to “control the minority population”. Democrats have promised much to help minorities and inner cities and have delivered little if anything. Democrats are the ones who gave us “Don't ask, don't tell” in the military yet they blame the Republicans for it. A Democrat signed the “Defense of Marriage Act” but blame the Republicans for this law.

No, I will not vote for or support a party that has proven itself to be corrupt and racist. Shame on any minority that supports such a group. Including Obama. Why do we assist in our own destruction? I want the Democrats to come up with honest policy that truly is fair and colorblind. Until then, this cool Black man will remain conservative and most likely vote Republican. You should to if you are or like minorities.

The Huckster give the boot to Romney

Romney bows out of the race for President. Not sure I like that he is doing that. Although his reasons are sound and logical, the fact remains that he (Romney) let himself get tag teamed and bumped. Huckabee does not like Romney and he does not like Romney for one reason only. Romney is a Mormon.

Huckabee and his people view the Mormon faith as a cult. So in short no matter what, Huckabee was not going to let Romney skate by simply because he felt Romney was not a true Christian. Never mind that others in the race were not devout Christians. Never mind that others in the race backed abortion or stem cell research, both of which Romney has come down on the side of the right.

The simple fact was that Romney was a Mormon and just like in the days of JFK, it is not possible or right that someone who is not a devout evangelical Christian to be president. JFK was our first devout Catholic president. Romney could have been our first devout Mormon president.

Now is that in the best interest of the Republican Party or in the best interest of our nation? I say it is not. Huckabee should be ashamed of himself. As should the evangelicals that support him. This guy is not a true conservative. He is not a true evangelical either. The bible says that man must obey both Gods law and mans law as issued by his government less that law be in conflict with Gods law.

Well the immigration laws do not go against Gods law yet Huckabee willingly tried to subvert those laws. God also does not believe in over taxing of the people. In fact God only ask for 10 percent of your increase or income. Huckabee rose taxes by more than 10 percent on the people of Arkansas. Not biblical.

There are many things that Huckabee has done as governor that do not fit the mold of biblical principles and thus evangelical beliefs. Yes he was able to paint Romney as some evil thing that should not be allowed near the White House. It was a personal vendetta that is not biblical. This guy calls himself a pastor of the Southern Baptist faith.

I happen to be Southern Baptist and I would not support Huckabee and shame on those evangelicals who did simply because someone else did not fit their mold of Christian. I will not approve of some of the beliefs of the Mormons because they are not biblical, but to oppose Romney simply because of that instead of searching and promoting a true conservative was and is wrong.

I hope people remember this when they get a government that is even far more removed from biblical principles than it is today. They may wish they voted for a Mormon after all.

Health Care Inovation Can Solve Crisis

What is wrong with our health care system? To be short, nothing. What is the downfall of our health care system? To be short, government.

Why do I say that? Because government has pretty much eliminated any way for the average person to develop new systems and profit by it. The insurance industry as a whole, is the most regulated industry in our country. Within that industry is the health care and health insurance industry, which is probably the most regulated part of the insurance industry.

Look at it this way. The government gives your employer (not you) a huge deduction for providing health care coverage for you. But only health care. Your employer wont get incentives to offer you car insurance. Your employer wont get government incentives to provide you with legal insurance. In fact you employer wont get government incentives for providing you with most benefits. The only one is health insurance.

By regulation, the government has also made it nearly impossible for the average person to shop around and get health insurance coverage on their own. You don't have the opportunity to shop around for health care coverage like you do auto insurance. You can get great deals on home owner or even renters insurance but you cant get deals on health care coverage of the same magnitude.

Government also makes innovation nearly impossible in health care coverage. Not just anyone can start a health care company. Not just anyone can innovate health care and bring it to market. Lets take a look at legal insurance.

I do not endorse or recommend any of the companies I may mention in this article nor do I have a direct financial stake in these companies.

Pre-paid legal is a Multi-Level Marketing company that provides a sort of legal insurance plan. You can join the company or just purchase the plan from a company member and you will be covered for many legal matters, some of which there is no additional out of pocket cost. Sort of like an HMO for the legal set.

This type of company could never exist in our country with todays laws and regulations. You could not have a true MLM company providing health care coverage. Say what you will about the MLM industry but it has revolutionized many industries in our nation and is responsible for billions of dollars in sales annually.

Take a franchise system. You can franchise just about anything in our country except health insurance. You already know that franchises in our country are hugely successful. They account for about one third of our total GNP. Sure there are some form of franchised health care companies like Health Stop but those are not like a McDonald's or a Rust Check. You have to be a medical professional to have one and they are not insurance plans.

Of course there are all kinds of discount programs out there. Even an MLM version is available. It is called AmeriPlan. But it is not insurance.

You can franchise a real estate company, even though everyone involved needs to be licensed to sell real estate. You can MLM personal financial advise as with Primarica even though all participants who actually sell the stuff have to get financial licenses. You can franchise insurance companies themselves such as State Farm but again you must be licensed.

So if we can franchise other industries that require a license then why can we not franchise, MLM or otherwise open up the health insurance industry so that innovation and competition take hold. So that the American people will have a true choice about their health care. Why do we not have the freedom to chose our health care like we do with just about every other aspect of our life?

The simple answer is government. Get the government out of it and you will see innovation, improved services, lower cost and more people able to afford to access the system. Now that was easy.
