Political Science or Political Religion?

On occassion I come across something that makes so much sense that I have to talk about it. The Southern Avenger, in the video below, makes so much logical sense that it is hard to disagree with him on anything.

However, he does get a few facts wrong about the Iraq war and the War on Terror but he nails it on the "religionizing" of political and social issues. Especially when it comes to Global Warming.

The idea that being a Conservative or a Liberal should thus dictate what you believe should not even enter a thoughtful humans mind. But all to often, we subjugate ourselves to what we believe instead of what the data of the day reveals.

The SA makes a case that so-called science once told us, and was taught in school, that blacks were biologically inferior to whites and that homosexuals were mentally ill and could be "fixed" with phyciatric treatment and drugs.

Of course those are not the only examples. We were fed a steady diet of ridiculous notions such as we were taught back in the day that women did not have a head for politics or were too emotional to be national leaders. I think Margaret Thatcher dispensed with the too emotional and no head for leadership nonsense.

We have also brushed aside the notion that blacks are in some way biologically inferior as evidenced by our current president. He is very intelligent, good looking and very capable as a human being. Capable as president is another matter.

We note that we have another female Secretary of State who follows a black female Secretary of State. Obviously women can get the job done, all be it the current SS is a bit under utilized but that is a good thing.

So what about this Global Warming thing? Well, what about anything that seems to have a "scientific consensus"? It usually stems from those in power wanting to keep and expand that power. Its all about control which is why when evidence comes about to contradict the current status quo, it is bashed, lambasted and even ignored. Its about control not about seeking the truth. Making blacks inferior was about controling them. Saying women didn't have the temperment for leadership was about keeping control over them. Telling you Global Warming exsist even though scientific data says otherwise is about controling you and me and our every day lives.

True conservatives recognize control and work to thwart it at every turn. Yes sometimes we get sucked into the murky mire of desire and political ease but in the end we usually pony up and admit our mistakes and recognize it is not control that we seek but rather liberty, justice and freedom for all.

Single Issue Candidates are Dangerous To Your Liberty

A lot of people ask me questions about my beliefs. They ask why I don't vote for or against issues directly. These people seem to think that the only thing that matters when voting for a person is their stance on a particular issue or two. Usually no more than four issues will determine if a person gets the vote of these people.

I feel sorry for them and for me. Issue politics has devastated our political landscape. It lends itself to heavy influence by the very groups and lobbyist that many people deplore. We have new laws that are supposed to limit the access and influence of special interest groups.

The problem is, that these laws end up limiting the liberty and freedom of the everyday American giving the special interest groups even more power and influence. The basic point is this. When you seek to limit the freedom and influence of a particular group you usually end up giving that group more power and influence.

I will never vote for single or limited issue candidates. Our nation is far more complicated than just a single issue or two. What happens with your candidate of choice once your issue is settled? What do they do then? How do the feel or vote for other issues that are just as important or even more important that your single issue?

See how short sighted and dangerous your limited issue vote can be? Besides, when it comes down to single or limited issues, what exactly do you expect to happen?

There are a lot of passionate people who are for and against abortion. The pro-abortion people say it is for the freedom of the woman to choose what happens with her body. The pro-life people say it is the freedom of the baby to be born that is the issue.

So both sides lobby hard for their cause and beliefs. This issue has sprouted dozens and dozens of Political Action Comities, lots of grass roots organizations, thousands of citizen soldiers that troll the halls of state capitols and the halls of power in Washington, DC. They vote in large blocks for candidates based solely on their position on abortion.

Is abortion an important issue? Well, yes it is a VERY important issue. Is it the ONLY or the MOST important issue facing our nation? No to both. But people will overlook other issues a candidate stands for or against because they will vote the way they want them to on this single issue.

You can pick just about any major issue right now and you will find the same thing going on. Lobby groups, PAK groups, grass roots groups, etc. All trying to influence how the tide of events will unfold. These groups often lobby for laws for or against their single issue. These leaves you and me in the dark.

We end up with laws that severely limit our freedom, choice and liberty.

Think about it. What ever happened to common sense, common courtesy, common decency? When we think of life in those terms, then we realize and understand that we don't need to have tons of laws on the books that end up limiting our rights, our liberty.

How often have you been stopped by a police officer and the officer has to look up certain laws to see if you actually broke that particular law? That is ridiculous. But, you would be surprised at how many laws are on the books that you and I don't know about that end up costing us money.

I speak from experience. I was driving a car owned by a fireman. He had a yellow and red emergency light in his back window. The State Trooper pulled me over for speeding, he said. (The charge was dismissed in court and I didn't have to say a word because it was obvious to the judge that it was stupid as explained by the Trooper representative.) He asked me if I had a firefighters badge. I said no because I was not a firefighter and it was not my car.

The trooper had to go back to his cruiser and look up the law. He then gave me a warning for displaying an emergency light improperly. I had no idea that ANY car I drive could not have an emergency only light displayed in the open if I was not a badged officer recognized by the state.

It was not my car. How the hell would I know about that? The firefighter friend of mine did not know about that law. Even the trooper had to look it up. Do you see what I mean about too many laws and that these laws end up costing you in freedom, time, money?

This is what single issue politics does to all of us. It ends up limiting our choices, our liberty. If we all just had some common courtesy, decency and sense then we would find we would not need so many laws.

How did our nation survive for about 150 years before the 1950's when laws began swelling the books in town halls all across the nation? It was do to personal responsibility and self respect. Laws tend to take that away from people and that leads to more laws.

Special interest and single issue candidates tend to vote for laws that restrict your liberty and freedom because their only issue is to get everyone to think and feel the exact same way they do. The only way to do that is to have laws that force you and I to comply.

I will not vote for a single issue candidate because my freedom and liberty if worth far more than that. I will not sell out just so one issue that may be important to me, gets the light of day. No there is far more at stake than that single issue.

Vote single issue and you vote to limit your own freedom and liberty. Its been proven by history. Its just common sense to pay attention to ALL the issues. Because if you vote for just one issue, then the rest of your life will be dictated by all the other single issues you didn't feel were worthy of your time. After all, they may not see your issue as being important to them but they will work just as hard to have their issue heard as you do to have your issue heard. A nation of single issues. Which one do you really want to live by?

Rush and O'Reilly are Right

If you have ever listened to Rush Limbaugh or Bill O'Reilly or just about any of the major and not so major right wing political talk show host, writers, columnists and pundits then you would know that they really don't like liberals.

Rush has often said liberals are braid dead and O'Reilly has often accused them of being just plain dumb. I have often agreed with the saying "if you are not a liberal by the time you enter college then you have no heart. But if you are not a conservative by the time you are 30 then you have no brain."

It seems that a psychiatrist from from Washington D.C. has figured out that there is a medical problem with these people. The interesting thing is that this Medical Doctor is not tied to or affiliated with any right wing or right leaning organization. In fact this guy has a history of not being on the right side or an activist of any kind.

This guys name is Dr. Lyle Rossiter, JR. M.D. and he has written a book that explains what he describes is a mental disorder. The book is titled "The Liberal Mind: The Psychological Causes of Political Madness." and it details his long history of observance and study and consultation with thousands of patients.

"A social scientist who understands human nature will not dismiss the vital roles of free choice, voluntary cooperation and moral integrity – as liberals do," he says. "A political leader who understands human nature will not ignore individual differences in talent, drive, personal appeal and work ethic, and then try to impose economic and social equality on the population – as liberals do. And a legislator who understands human nature will not create an environment of rules which over-regulates and over-taxes the nation's citizens, corrupts their character and reduces them to wards of the state – as liberals do."

Dr. Rossiter says the liberal agenda preys on weakness and feelings of inferiority in the population by:

  • creating and reinforcing perceptions of victimization;
  • satisfying infantile claims to entitlement, indulgence and compensation;
  • augmenting primitive feelings of envy;
  • rejecting the sovereignty of the individual, subordinating him to the will of the government.
Now isn't this what we on the right have been saying for a least the last 45 to 50 years? Now it is taking a medical doctor to prove it to us. What will the left think about this? Can they be rational enough to seriously take a look at this problem? Will the health care solutions proposed by Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama address this national mental health crisis?

If what Dr. Rossiter says is true, then we indeed have a mental health crisis on our hands and the government has a duty to do something about this crisis. I guess that means they will have to provide mental health coverage and treatment to all those who have this mental disorder. The only problem is, if they heal or cure these people then that means they will no longer be liberal and they will not think so irrationally.

That would mean the end of the Democrat party. I would think it is time that conservatives and Republicans should be shouting from the roof tops that this is a national mental health care crisis and they should demand that people be forced to get help.

Then again, the conservative view is every person has a choice and should be free to make that choice. So I guess that means this mental health care crisis will not be solved anytime soon. At least not as long as the Democrat Liberals have any power in the halls of government. Too bad. To have a potential cure to our troubles is nice and the future could be so bright. But this is one of those things I am sure the liberal press will bury.

Health Care Inovation Can Solve Crisis

What is wrong with our health care system? To be short, nothing. What is the downfall of our health care system? To be short, government.

Why do I say that? Because government has pretty much eliminated any way for the average person to develop new systems and profit by it. The insurance industry as a whole, is the most regulated industry in our country. Within that industry is the health care and health insurance industry, which is probably the most regulated part of the insurance industry.

Look at it this way. The government gives your employer (not you) a huge deduction for providing health care coverage for you. But only health care. Your employer wont get incentives to offer you car insurance. Your employer wont get government incentives to provide you with legal insurance. In fact you employer wont get government incentives for providing you with most benefits. The only one is health insurance.

By regulation, the government has also made it nearly impossible for the average person to shop around and get health insurance coverage on their own. You don't have the opportunity to shop around for health care coverage like you do auto insurance. You can get great deals on home owner or even renters insurance but you cant get deals on health care coverage of the same magnitude.

Government also makes innovation nearly impossible in health care coverage. Not just anyone can start a health care company. Not just anyone can innovate health care and bring it to market. Lets take a look at legal insurance.

I do not endorse or recommend any of the companies I may mention in this article nor do I have a direct financial stake in these companies.

Pre-paid legal is a Multi-Level Marketing company that provides a sort of legal insurance plan. You can join the company or just purchase the plan from a company member and you will be covered for many legal matters, some of which there is no additional out of pocket cost. Sort of like an HMO for the legal set.

This type of company could never exist in our country with todays laws and regulations. You could not have a true MLM company providing health care coverage. Say what you will about the MLM industry but it has revolutionized many industries in our nation and is responsible for billions of dollars in sales annually.

Take a franchise system. You can franchise just about anything in our country except health insurance. You already know that franchises in our country are hugely successful. They account for about one third of our total GNP. Sure there are some form of franchised health care companies like Health Stop but those are not like a McDonald's or a Rust Check. You have to be a medical professional to have one and they are not insurance plans.

Of course there are all kinds of discount programs out there. Even an MLM version is available. It is called AmeriPlan. But it is not insurance.

You can franchise a real estate company, even though everyone involved needs to be licensed to sell real estate. You can MLM personal financial advise as with Primarica even though all participants who actually sell the stuff have to get financial licenses. You can franchise insurance companies themselves such as State Farm but again you must be licensed.

So if we can franchise other industries that require a license then why can we not franchise, MLM or otherwise open up the health insurance industry so that innovation and competition take hold. So that the American people will have a true choice about their health care. Why do we not have the freedom to chose our health care like we do with just about every other aspect of our life?

The simple answer is government. Get the government out of it and you will see innovation, improved services, lower cost and more people able to afford to access the system. Now that was easy.

My Intro, What I believe

I have been asked a lot about my positions on many topics and issues that relate to all areas of our political, moral, social and economic system of government.

First, you should know I am not a “rich” person. In other words, I do not earn over $250 per year. I am not white, well at least most of me is not. I am Native American (Cherokee and Osage), Black (African American), French (from France) all rolled into one human being who is all American. Born and raised in these United States.

My views come from having a father who was a career military man and by my being raised in many parts of the USA and abroad. I have seen how some of the rest of the world lives and yes I have even been to a few cities and towns in Canada.

I pride myself on logic and principle instead of emotion. That does not mean I don't have a heart. Jesus Christ had the biggest heart of any man who ever lived however, he was full of logic and principle. I cannot ever hope to reach such a level as Christ but that does not mean I cannot try to emulate Him.

I will begin to take one issue at a time on a daily basis and give my position and try to express in words why that position makes sense on a number of levels. I will not shy away from any issue. If I don't know anything or enough about a particular issue I am not afraid to say so and will en devour to research and find out more before giving my position.

Does this sound like a man running for political office? I hope not because that is not my intent. Although I have been asked by everyday people (not politicians) to run for local offices from school boards to state senates. I have refused all request. Why would I do such a thing? Because at this point in my life, I believe I can be more effective by staying outside of the political arena. Not to mention, I would never thrust my family, my children, into such a spotlight.

The horrific anal exam my entire family would have to endure would not be fair to them. However, as my family grows, the thought of public office may be something that will make logical sense. It does not make logic sense at this time for me and my family.

I am sure I will begin to attract the attention of those who not only disagree with my positions for a number of reasons. I am not afraid of such scrutiny. Do I have things in my past that I wish to remain private? Of course I do. There is not a human being on this planet that doesn't. Will I lie about those things if asked? Not on your life.

We have all done things in our past that we are not proud of and I am of no exception. We have all made mistakes in our past, again I am no exception. It proves I am human and I am normal. I challenge every political person to be as open with their past or at least as honest when the light shines on the dark corners of who they are.

I know I will make some angry. I know I will make some cheer. I know some will think me insensitive. I know some will think I need to be locked away. I know some will think I sold out to “the man”. I know some will think me a tad shy of sheer genius. I know some will just hurl insult after insult at me. I know some will think me but a puppet of the establishment or a pawn of the anarchist.

I will be first and foremost honest, truthful, plain, sincere and logical. That is something I can promise and deliver. So if you want to know more about what my positions are, then over the next few weeks

Why I wont Vote Democrat for President

Here in New Hampshire we are bombarded every minute of everyday by all the candidates on both sides of the political isle. Our local TV station, WMUR Channel 9, has been running video of debate questions with each candidate answering.

Once recent question was (paraphrasing) "Gas and Oil is at all time high, what would you do to lower this cost?"

I listened to all of their answers. And I was totally flabbergasted by the answers. None of them were honest. If they were then that is even more reason NOT to vote for them. If they have something like this wrong, then what else do they have wrong?

They all blamed big oil and our lack of conservation for our high oil prices. First of all, if they don't know how all this works, then how would they know how other aspects of our economy, other aspects of the world, work?

Oil prices are not high because we use "more than our fair share." The entire world has changed. We don't allow oil exploration within our own borders. Because of that, we must buy a good portion of our energy from overseas. This puts us in direct competition with with 3 billion people.

Two of the largest countries in the world are fighting and growing their way into the 21st century. China with 1.2 billion people and India with 1 billion people have middle and upper classes that are growing at alarming rates. This creates a need for energy. This need is far outstripping our need for the same energy. And because they need this energy to grow and pull their people out of the stone age, they are willing to pay more for it.

This is simple supply and demand. However, all of the Democrats do not see this global demand, this global growth as the cause for the rapid rise in crude oil prices. They point to the fact that the USA is the bad guy. How wrong can you be on something that is so blatantly obvious?

With just a few clicks of the computer mouse, anyone can find information about how fast the far east is growing. For example, Shanghai, China in 1960 had only ONE skyscraper. Today they have more than 300 with hundreds more being built or being planned. You don't grow that fast without needing energy.

The best way for the USA to lower its energy cost is to stop limiting our ability to get at our own reserves. That means drilling in the Gulf, Alaska, off the coasts of California and the Southeast. Sure alternative fuels should be developed as well as conservation. However, there is no safe, reliable and affordable alternative available right now. Even if we did everything we could we would not be able to conserve enough to stop depending on oil from abroad. Not to mention the estimate that the USA will have 400 million people by the year 2050. That is 100 million more people than we have today. All of those people will need energy.

If we do not act now to tap our own abundant oil and gas reserves then we will be at the mercy of nations like China and India and our gas and oil prices will skyrocket to levels that even European nations cannot conceive.

None of the Democrats are willing to admit this so therefore there is no possible way they can have any other major issue this country faces in proper perspective. They are not fit to lead our nation. Simple.
