Obama is still coming after your wallet

We have the biggest tax grab and redistribution of wealth in the history of our nation. Even King George back in the day of our Founding Fathers did not tax the colonies like this and Washington, Adams, Jefferson and the rest of the Founding Fathers picked up arms and fought for their freedom over the taxes they had to endure.

Now we have this TRILLION dollar boondoggle of a spending bill on top of a TRILLION dollar boondoggle under G.W. Bush. Plus Obama says that we will probably need another TRILLION dollars sometime in the next 12 to 18 months. So 3 TRILLION dollars plus interest will have to be paid back by the American people.

How does Washington and state capitols plan on doing this? Raising taxes of all kinds. Now let me state something here. Make no mistake, no matter what it is called, such as FEE, USE FEE, REGISTRATION, et al. It is a TAX. If the proceeds go to the government, then by definition it is a tax.

So now we have Obama telling states they should increase their taxes to help pay for all of this government spending. A number of states are looking to increase or add toll to the roads you drive.

I know of two states so far, that are considering taxing the number of MILES you drive every year. You read that right. Massachusetts is looking to tax its residents by a reported penny or more per mile driven during a given year.

Now you may think that is not so bad. You drive 10 thousand miles in a year then you would pay $100 in extra tax. But what if you drive for work? You are a traveling sales person? Or your business is a delivery business? That will increase your annual tax rate tremendously. Of course all of that cost will be passed on to you the consumer.

Do you think a business can absorb $100 thousand dollars in increased fees per year without passing on the cost?

On top of that, Gov Patrick of MA is looking to raise its current gas tax. If he gets what he is asking for, it would mean that those in MA would pay a wopping 50 cents per gallon in state tax. That would be on top of the Federal gas tax. It would make the Commonwealth the most expensive gas tax in the nation.

State Capitols are not watching their spending. Washington is not watching its spending. Mayors and City and Town Managers are not watching their spending. So who has to pay for all of this? You and me in our taxes. So when you give the government more of your money, then that is less for you and your family. How hard is that to understand?

Your financial freedom is now under full all out assault. You see a part of liberty and freedom is to be secure in your own affects. If you cannot keep what you sweat and labor for, then you are not free, you have no liberty.

Let me repeat that for those of you have trouble with math. If you earn $1.00 and you have to pay out 60 cents of that dollar to the various governments in taxes, fees, tolls, etc. then that leaves you with only 40 cents to spend on your bills, home, savings and anything else you would want.

So let me see. You earn $1000 dollars and all you get to keep for yourself is $400 dollars. Is that what you really think is fair, even if you are a far left Liberal? How does that affect your ability to provide for your family if 60% or more of your income is going to the government to pay for others?

How can you keep your family free and secure is you can't earn and keep enough of your own money? This is a time for Americans to stand up against the government just like Washington and the rest of the Founding Fathers did.

No, I don't mean pick up your gun and start a military civil war. But I do mean pay attention to what your local, state and Federal government is spending. Demand they stop spending. Vote for those who will spend and tax less. Get involved. Write and call your representatives about how you feel.

You can affect change if you speak up. You can affect change if you vote for those who will stop the spending insanity that is currently in office. Yes we can have a Revolution and it can be bloodless.

If we do not take this action then at some point our sons and daughters may actually have to pick up arms to spill blood to affect change. And that would be a damn shame since we have the opportunity right now to affect change with less pain.

Taxes are not governments money. Taxes are your money. You are the government. Or at least that is what the Founding Fathers intended. So if you get taxed to death, then it is your fault. As for me and my house, we will fight ever single tax we can. We will take ever legal measure under the Constitution to not pay taxes. We will put our leaders under a brightly light microscope on how, when and where they spend the taxes I do pay. You need to do the same. Every American has a Patriotic Duty to do the same.

To quote VP Biden, its time to Patriotic. Its time to help get America out of the rut. Its time to be part of the deal. Only this time I mean it to control government spending so that all Americans can keep more of its own money. After all, we all know how to spend our money a lot better than the government does. If you doubt that, then think about this.

Would you spend $160 for a hammer that you can pick up at the local hardware store for $20 bucks. Yea, I didn't think so. Well our government does and it has been documented over and over and over again. So you still want to keep giving them your hard earned money? Yea, I didn't think so.

With all due respect, the title of your posting reminds me of the New York Times - misleading and politically driven.

Barack Obama does not control state taxes, nor did he ask the governors to raise their taxes. Even if he had, they are not bound to do so. Remember that it was Barack Obama who insisted that the Stimulus Bill include millions of dollars for states to help relieve the strain on their budgets. States like Mass. and Calif. which have been spending recklessly still had to raise additional revenue to balance their budgets. (States can't borrow like the Federal Government). If you were listening to Obama's State of the Union address, he said that this is not the time to be raising taxes. So his proposal included a tax reduction for the overwhelming majority of citizens.

Unfortunately, those people who have political agendas, can't even give him credit for doing the right thing. They were probably the same people who were cheering GWB's desertion of Republican principles by running up the largest deficits in this country's history.

Which side were you on during those debates?

Now our country and our President are facing extraordinary times. I'm not sure anyone knows exactly what to do, but let's give our new President and his administration a little time to see if they can get us out of this mess.

...and try to be a little more forthright in your criticism. I hate comparing a fellow Republican to the New York Times.

I want to thank you for a very long winded comment. And to say you obviously did not read my post very well.

True states control STATE taxes. Obama controls FEDERAL taxes. And frankly if you are a President giving out tons of cash to states and such, you have to get that money from some place and often in order to do that, there are tons of Federal Un-Funded Mandates that states end up having to pay for. Thus they have to raise your taxes to pay for those Un-Funded Mandates.

I don't believe for a second you are a conservative but it is your right to think the way you do. And for the record, Obama is now spending worse than MA or CA ever thought about spending. So is the Fed headed the way of CA?

States can borrow like the Fed, they issue bonds and such just like the Fed although on a smaller scale. But states have the same borrowing tools as the Fed does.

As for Obama not raising taxes? He is going to do it by letting current tax rollbacks expire. That is a tax hike. He is gonna raise capitol gains taxes. He is looking at other fees - which is nothing more than a tax.

Oh yea he is coming after your wallet and I stand behind my post and title. Maybe you would be happier reading a liberal rag like the times but as for me, I am right and you will see in short order.

I think he control everything sooner. Its my belief on the new and young American President.
