Remember the shot heard 'round the world?

This is one of the most outrageous things I have had come to my attention in a very long time. I read and heard about this and I could not believe my eyes and ears. Massachusetts has no idea what kind of Pandora's Box they are trying to open up.

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts wants to extend its tax policy outside of its own borders in direct conflict with the US Constitution.

There is a tire chain store here in New England called Town Fair Tire. It is not a huge chain but it does have rather good prices on tires and wheels. Well, somehow Massachusetts was able to force its way into their NH books and decided that Town Fair owed the 5% sales tax that the state says came from MA residents buying tires at their NH stores.

First of all, I don't know how they were able to audit the books of a company not in its own state and second, I don't know where they even get the idea they could force a company not in its state collect sales tax for them. This is a direct affront to the sovereignty of the State of New Hampshire.

MA wants to force this tire chain to collect a sales tax in a state with NO sales tax at all. Now think about this for a second. If MA wins this case it will open the doors for every state to require every other state to collect its sales tax from residents that travel. It will become an accounting nightmare for business not to mention, states without sales taxes will find themselves enforcing the sales tax policy of other states.

Because NH doesn't have sales tax, most businesses don't have a mechanism to collect such fees. If MA wins this fight then it could force these small and large companies to come up with very expensive mechanisms to collect these charges from people who chose to shop in their state who live in another state.

This would not stop at sales tax, it would spread to just about every other tax and fee. It would be a nightmare.

This really started some time ago with the State of Maine imposing an income tax on NH and MA residents that work in Maine. Now you may think that is not strange and that every state does this. However, Maine takes it one step further. If on spouse works in Maine, then the other spouse that does not work in Maine is subject to the Maine income tax as well. The bad thing about this is that the state of NH did not vigorously fight this and this policy sticks to this day.

So don't think for a minute that the MA sales tax wont be spread to other areas of your income. And think about this. If you live in New York State and Shop in MA would you have to pay both sales and use taxes? Would that not be double taxation? Double taxation is against the Constitution.

And for that matter so is what MA is trying to do. What these states need to do is be responsible for their spending and stop looking for ways to get more cash. They need to cut back or eliminate all of these social programs that are draining the coffers of state treasuries all over the nation.

CA is delaying giving back money that does not belong to them because they don't have it. CA is the largest socialist state we have and look at them. They are so broke that they can't even give the money back to the people to whom it belongs. Instead of refunds on their income tax, the people of CA are getting I.O.U.'s.

You gotta ask how much more will the people of CA stand for before they open their eyes and start voting in conservative thinkers to run their state.

The same thing should happen in MA. Those idiots keep voting in the liberal idiots that are grabbing their income as fast as they can. Now those same liberals want to toss the Constitution aside so they can grab even more cash to feed their bottomless pit policies of socialized everything.

MA is the first state to require every single resident in that state to have health insurance coverage. Even if they cannot afford it, if you live within that state, you must have coverage. Sure if the state determines you can't afford it then the state will pay for it for you. This was projected to cost around 900 million dollars. Six months into the program, the health department of that state requested another 1 billion dollars to cover the cost. DOUBLE the projected amount. This boondoggle of a plan in its second year cost the state more than twice what they told the people of that state.

Socialism is too expensive, it doesn't work and it takes more and more of YOUR hard earned money to fund. If you live anywhere in this country, you need to tell your governor and Attorney General to support the State of New Hampshire in this fight against the Commonwealth of MA. This is unconstitutional. This is unfair. This is not right. This is dangerous.

In his own Words Part 2 and 3 and...

Obama doesn't care about taxes. He doesn't care about government revenue. He doesn't care who he hurts. He only wants things to be "fair" so he will raise taxes no matter how much higher taxes will hurt the treasury.




He admits that tax hikes would hurt the economy. So if the economy were strong then he would hurt it by raising taxes. Now if the whole idea is to make things fair and to pay as you go, would it not make sense, using the Obama logic, to raise taxes? In the spot above, Obama says it is not about putting money in the Treasury, it is all about fairness.



Obama thinks that paying more taxes is neighborly. And he thinks that even though lower taxes brings in more money to the treasury, the rich can afford to pay more than the lower classes but that is not class war fair. Who is this guy kidding.



When it comes to national defense, Obama doesn't know what he is talking about. He shows that he is a freshman Senator. He shows that he does not understand the dangers that we as a nation faces or that he does not really care about those dangers.



I could go on and on to show you that in his own words, Obama proves himself to be ill equipped to lead our great land. He is sorely lacking in the stature to make tough decisions. He is a socialist at best and a Marxist at worst. He wants class war fair to be inflamed to a level not before seen in our nation.

Don't listen to what others say about Obama, listen to what he says. He goes against history and statistics that prove he is wrong. He is arrogant and naive to think that even the smallest of nations pose no threat to our safety and survival. He hides his true beliefs. He hides who he is. He tries to shut the opposition up. He is against the Constitution. He will punish success.

All of this and more, Obama says and proves himself with no help from anyone else. How can you or anyone else vote for such a dangerous man? I cannot and I will not. Obama does not deserve your vote. And that is the truth.

A Pole Tax is an Unfair Tax

A few days ago the Los Angeles Times ran a story by Miguel Bustillo about taxes in Texas. It seems back in 2007, Texas passed a $5-per-patron fee (tax) on strip clubs to raise more than $40 million annually for anti-sexual-assault programs and health care for uninsured Texans.

Now most people would pile on the subject of health care. Here we go again with this health care nonsense. But you would be missing the big picture.

They imposed this stupid tax to raise some $40 million dollars per year in order to pay for anti-sexual-assault programs. It has been dubbed the “pole tax”.

There is no correlation between strip clubs and sexual assault at all. So why would Texas do such a thing? Because like many other states and the Federal Government, they think they can trample on your rights and liberty simply by tossing a tax on something they don't like.

You can call it whatever you want but the reality is, a license, a fee, a toll, all are nothing more than a tax. Taxes are used to control the behavior of you and me and it is unconstitutional. Yes, I said it. I am not a huge fan of strip clubs and I do believe they can be regulated as far as their location. (No a strip club should not be located in the same block as a high school)

But to regulate in such a way as to prohibit or discourage its usage is unconstitutional. It is not the governments job to do such a thing. And they damn sure have no business raising money from it.

The story says that the fee took effect on January 1 and that the owners of 162 strip joints in Texas took the state to court. The owners said politicians were cynically taxing a population they knew would not fight back. After all, men who make a habit of drinking and stuffing dollar bills in the attire of scantily clad women are usually not eager to tell the world about it at legislative hearings.

This could be said for a number of things. Which is why smokers pay such a heavy tax. I don't smoke cigarettes. I hate them. I think they stink. I think they are deadly. But I do NOT believe that smokers should be taxed so heavily on something that is legal. I do NOT believe they should be ousted from private businesses just because someone in a legislative chamber doesn't like them.

The story goes on to say that on March 28 of this year, Travis County District Judge Scott H. Jenkins said in his ruling that laws limiting such expression had to pass strict constitutional tests and that the pole tax didn't because, among other things, indigent health care had no connection to strip joints.

So this judge struck down this tax and well he should have. Just because government needs money it does not mean it can just go out and start taxing things it does not like. Besides it is not the governments job to provide funding for any kind of program or group.

Although it was done on a state level instead of the federal level (where such a thing should be done if it is done at all) it does not mean it should be done in the first place. And to levy a special tax leaves the door wide open for just about any activity to be taxed.

We have heard about the government wanting to tax snack foods and beer. They have wanted to tax SUV's and dirt bikes. They have wanted to tax certain professions like massage therapist. It does not end. Once you open the door to special or targeted taxes then we all become targets.

If the government cannot get by with the income it already has coming in, then it needs to figure out why that is and start getting rid of programs it has no business funding or administering. Think about it. We get reasoning for just about every new tax, fee or fine that comes down the pike now. The government may have a valid reason for doing something, but does it fit the Constitution is the question that needs to be answered. Kind of like seat belt laws which really are not about safety, they are about raising money for the government. Simple.

This pole tax was not about helping sexual assault victims, it was about raising money. Think about it, if this tax succeeded and ended up closing down the strip club industry, would sexual assault go away? No. Would the programs funded by those taxes go away? No. So how would they pay for those programs then?

Same for the smokers tax. If everyone stopped smoking, where would they get the billions in taxes collected every year to fund all the programs out there? From you and me in some other manor.

A tax is a tax and it is about control not about the programs that they say it will fund. It is about limiting your liberty your freedom. Don't fall for it next time someone in your state wants to tax something your or they don't like. Because someone will propose a tax on something you do like to do that they object to, like breathing.
