What Barry and his kind really want from big oil and the American people

How interesting this is. Recently, Obama was making fun of McCain for making fun of him about the people of America saving gas by inflating their tires.

First of all, are you serious, Mr. Obama? I think the tire pressure thing has been so en grained in our collective psyche that it would be a safe bet to say that at least 90% of the American public know that properly inflated tires saves gas, gives you better handling and extends the life of your tires. But to state this as a potential plank on the energy platform is bordering on the ridiculous.

Where are the solid planks on energy from you and your camp? I have not seen anything relevant unless you are mimicking what the Republicans have been saying. But then the very next day you flop and tell us that drilling is not going to solve our problems today.

Mr. Obama, the liberals have had a “don't drill in our country at all” policy for decades and we now see where that policy has lead. We are paying record prices at the gas pumps while backwards countries in South America and Africa pay under a buck a gallon. How is that possible?

True those nations' governments subsidize their oil industries heavily. So is that where you are going to take us Mr. Obama? You wish to do a Hugo (and I don't mean the hurricane although the effects would be far more devastating) and nationalize our oil industry?

And for crying out loud, can someone please tell me what a “windfall profit” is. Who is to say that 11 billion dollars is too much for a company to make. Doesn't the federal government and all the state governments make far more on a gallon of gas than the oil companies? Why yes they do. Doesn't the fed and the states tax the income of the companies, large and small, that deal in oil? Why yes they do.

So should not the fed and the states give back to the American people what they took because they, the government has windfall tax profits? After all, none of the governments involved have ever risked a dime to explore for oil. None of them have paid to lay the infrastructure that now gives us our pipelines.

Oh sure, they may have given tax breaks every now and again...but that is what they were. Nothing but a reduction in the taxes that those companies already had to pay. How is that signify that the government “paid” for anything. It is our money to begin with.

And with todays technology and the fact that just about every other oil producing nation on the planet is going after oil reserves even in areas where US companies cannot change your mind? Of course not. You view the big oil companies, which are small compared to the oil companies around the world, as evil. You think that even if they made nothing, that they were still cheating the American people.

It is you and your ilk, Mr. Obama who are cheating the American people. Why don't you tell the people of this great nation just what you have in mind for us as far as your energy policy would go? You would not dare because the American people would reject it outright.

The American people deserve more than rhetoric, Mr. Obama. And those goes for Mr. McCain as well. We need real answers. Yes alternatives are a good start but you and I and the rest of America know that any viable alternative will not be fully integrated for at least two decades if not longer.

So why is it OK to pursue technologies that will not pay off today but not drill for our own oil that will obviously not pay off today? Because in both cases, we will be a much stronger nation tomorrow.

But all you wish to do is pit the “rich” against the rest of us. You pit the rest of us against the “poor”. And you wish to tax the hell out of the very people who make this nation great. And you know I am not just talking about income tax. Any tax you levy against an oil company for “excessive” profits will only get passed on to the American consumer. It is just another money grab for bigger government.

Come on Mr. Obama and Mr. McCain. Come clean and tell the American people what you really want to do to us. I promise you that 90% of us will not stand for it.

Earth day and the Oil Cartels

Earth Day is here again. Yes, I said Earth Day. Now before I get into this wonderfully bogus holiday, let me say this. Earth day is nothing more than a sham at making a few people feel good and the rest of us feel terrible.

This is pretty much a USA thing. Sure, Earth Day is celebrated in some form in most western societies. But none of them have the fervor that we seem to have here in the United States.

We have taken Earth Day and turned it into a shrine holiday. Worship the earth and all that it gives life too except humans. We are evil scum that should get down on our knees and kiss the dirt from which we are born.

We here a lot about how we, those of us in the United States and to a lesser extent, Canada, are using more than our fair share of natural resources. Forget the fact that much of these natural resources come from our own lands. We still use more than our fair share.

I am not sure who decided what OUR fair share should be but there you have it.

There is a lot of talk about gas prices going through the roof. There is a lot of Liberal blame on President Bush and HIS war in Iraq.

To be sure, the Bush administration does have to take some of the blame for oil prices stretching for $125 per barrel. Our dollar has been weakened to such a point where the Canadian dollar is now worth more than the American dollar. That is a shame.

But you have to ask yourself, how can we get out of this mess in short order and do it in a way that would help the economies of the world? How can we shore up our dollar, bring down oil prices and force the oil baron cartel of OPEC to play more nice?

Easy. In fact we could have things in place within 3 to 7 years. But we would have to get rid of or at least expose and silence the radical left and environmentalist.

We have not built a new refinery since the early 70's in our country. How do we expect to keep up with technology and energy demands if we don't have the capacity to produce our own fuels? Why is it we have enough oil within our own borders but we cannot drill for it?

Here is the simple and easy plan. We do have to have alternative sources of energy. I agree. That is why every single wind farm that is on the books in the planning stages should be built. Wind is clean and renewable. We need those farms off the coast of our nation and inland on high hills and mountains.

We need to build more solar power generating plants in the south and southwest. Why not tap into the clean energy of the sun. It is silent and clean energy.

We need to start drilling for our own oil off the Gulf Coast, off the California and Oregon Coast and in Alaska. We need to begin extracting oil from shale in the upper Mid West of our nation. If we begin to flood the market with our own oil, that would force the price per barrel down through the basement.

Our dollar would rise in value because we would not need to buy oil from afar. We have enough right here. A strong dollar means that we can buy more with it. Gas prices in our country would head south and probably level off somewhere around $1.75 to $2.00 per gallon.

Lastly we need to build more geo-thermal energy plants in area where it is viable. Again a clean source of renewable energy.

We could also build (and should) more nuclear power plants. It is a proven and safe source of energy that would reduce the need for fossil fuel energy plants.

Speaking of fossil fuel energy, we should build more plants that burn the discarded tires we have all over the country. This would also serve to clean up huge piles of these ugly, dangerous and growing piles of used tires.

I read somewhere that the United States has enough tires currently to light up or 5 largest cities for 50 years. And of course more tires are produced and discarded every day so this is an endless supply of rubber. Well at least until we get flying cars that don't need wheels.

If we did all of these things (which we should have been doing anyway) we would become energy independent. We would lead the world in energy production. We would force OPEC to play more nice and cut prices. We would not be paying $3.00 and $4.00 a gallon for gas. Not when we have the ability to pay less.

Besides if we don't do the above things, it will only get worse. I mean China is now looking at big cars, trucks and SUV's to buy and put on their roads. Looks like a billion plus people are looking to join the industrialized west.

We need to act now or we will become the new third world. Conservation and restriction is not the answer. Innovation and access is the key to staying on top.

Corn, Not the New Fuel We Hoped For. $4 Gas Doesn't Have To Happen in America

There was a news conference today. The President of the United States talked with the press. I am continually amazed at how liberals think this man is such an idiot. Granted he is not an eloquent speaker. But then again, the liberal Mayor of Boston, MA is far worse than George Bush ever could be.

But that is not what this post is about. The interesting thing is what President Bush said at this press conference. He talked about how the economy is not dead and how it probably wont fall into a recession. He also talked about our dependence on foreign oil. He ran rings around the press asking the questions today.

But the most interesting thing he talked about was the price of gas and why it was going up. Something the liberal media does not want to get. Big oil in this country does not control the price of crude oil. He talked about how the US could avoid having to pay $4 a gallon at the pump. He talked about alternative fuels and how the US is a leader in the research of alternative fuels. He also nailed something that most people don't get.

President Bush talked about the hidden danger of turning corn into fuel. You see corn is the base food for life on this planet. Humans eat corn directly and indirectly. What do I mean by indirectly? Well, food animals also eat corn. I am talking cows, pigs, chickens, lamb, etc. all eat corn as well. So when the price of corn rises it increases the cost of feeding live stock. Not to mention the fact that products that contain corn for human consumption also rise.

So you see our entire food chain is heavily dependent on corn. So you increase the demand for corn and the price goes up. Simply the result of supply and demand. This also has another problem attached to it. Because corn is in demand and it's value is on the rise, this makes it a commodity that people want to get in on.

Farmers are dropping other crops for the more profitable corn crop. Can you blame them? Farmers are business people after all. They need to make a living. They have people who work for them that must be paid. Farmers have debt they have to pay off. So if they decide that corn will earn them more per acre than wheat or barley or strawberries, then they will make the switch.

This switch reduces the food that we as humans have available to us. So you see our own liberal environmentalist wacko policies are forcing prices to rise all over. We have an oil policy that is in the toilet. President Bush made it clear that we need to build new oil refineries. He has proposed using old, close military bases to do such a thing. The Democrat congress has shot that idea down. Why?

Other countries are drilling off the their coast and in the Gulf of Mexico so why can't we. Liberal environmentalist prevent us from doing so. Why?

We have technology that allows us to drill almost horizontally so that means that oil drill sites are much smaller than they used to be. So we could drill in Alaska yet not need to be in the middle of the oil fields to do it. We could be on the edge of them and drill sideways. But we still can't do that because of environmentalist. Why?

We have wind turbine technology that is very efficient today. We could build wind farms to harness the clean power of the wind. But environmentalist stop them from being built. Why?

We know that bio fuel produced by corn does not have the same thermal factor as oil fuel. What that means is that you don't get the same gas mileage with bio fuels as you do with oil fuels. So your car that gets say 35 miles per gallon on gas will get only 30 miles per gallon or less on bio fuels and bio fuel blends. So it will take more fuel to go the same distance than with straight gas.
So why do we think this is a good idea? Why?

High taxes, the wrong kind of energy policy, high food cost due to the wrong energy policy is all contributing to that famed $4 per gallon gasoline cost that Americans may be faced with by the time the Summer of 2008 arrives.

How do we stop this madness? Get on Congress to stop pandering and start doing something that is real and meaningful. Drill in Anwar. Drill in the Gulf. Build wind turbines. Build nuclear power plants. Build new and more advanced oil refineries. Invest in other alternative fuels other than bio fuels made from corn.

Yes, America can be independent in its energy needs but we have to get the Liberals, the Democrats and the Environmentalist out of the way. We have to demand this. We have to insist on this.

In the mean time, President Bush can continue to run rings around those who think he is nothing but a big time Texas Idiot.
