The reason for the season

Up here in New England we will enjoy a white Christmas. This is in spite of the fact that there was a two week conference on Global Warming in Copenhagen. I find it very humorous that during this conference, the city got near record cold temperatures and near record snow fall and that very same city will have a white Christmas for the first time in decades.

I also find it funny that when temperatures plummet all over the planet, Global Warming popes and priest tell us that if it gets cold, its because of the same global warming that caused temps to rise back in the 90's.

But I digress. This is the time of year that is not about global warming, global cooling, man-made global climate change or whatever else the anti mankind religious zealots want to call the natural flow of the planets climate change.

This is the time of year we celebrate the greatest humanitarian, economist, environmentalist and human lover the world has ever seen. It is a time we stop to celebrate a birth that changed man. Indeed, this was a birth that actually split time in two.

But instead of remembering and celebrating such a birth, we run around trying to find and buy the latest fad, electronic, card or anything else our limited financial budgets can handle in order to give it to someone we say we love and care about. We also know that those gifts will most likely be broken, thrown away or exchanged within the first 2 months of the new year, lost and forgotten in time and in memory.

Yes it is cool to see a tree, be it real or artificial, propped up with loads of wrapped gifts. Sure it is great fun to run around town in your car, van or even SUV to look at the dazzling if not dizzying display of electric candles adorning house after house.

It is great fun to run about with an extra spring in our step because it is expected that everyone be more jolly and friendly at this time of year and to eat more than we should especially more of the things we should not eat at all.

But then comes the new year and we feel a sense of loss. We crash and feel depressed often blaming it on the weather noticing how dead and dreary the landscape looks. We exit our over heated buildings into the cold cursing and condeming the fact that global warming has not made our small corner of the world a tropical paradise.

The euphoria that we felt before December 25 is replaced by shock and dismay come January 25 as the credit card bills arrive in the mail. We often say with a hint of denial in our voices, "I didn't spend that much."

The shock and realization of our spending transgressions is very apparent and we lament the fact that we have less than a year to do it all over again.

But some of us do carry that joy that is this holiday season in our hearts all year long. Although we are few in number, we can and due have a huge impact on those around us. How is this possible in a world of fast, faster and fastest?

We slow down enough to know that this time of year is not about the tree, the lights, the spectacle, the snow, the gifts under the tree or anything else that tradition has now taught us.

We slow down and know that the greatest gift of all was not born on this day, but is celebrated non the less on this day.

The greatest gift every single human this planet has ever hosted or ever will support in life was a tiny baby born over 2000 years ago.

The reason for the season is a birthday. The birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The Son of Man and more importantly, the Son of God.

Thank you God for this awesome gift.

And, Happy birthday Jesus.

Merry Christmas to you and yours.

A Logical Case for Health Care Reform

I know what some of you are going to say. How can I, Rod Eccles, believe there is a logical case for Health Care Reform? Am I not the one that shines the beacon of freedom and liberty all across this nation?

Well, yes I am. And I can make a logical case for some kind of Health Care Reform. It really is not contradictory to my beliefs or to the love of freedom and liberty. In fact I can give a logical argument that shows that this kind of reform would benefit every man, woman and child in our nation and have a ripple effect around the world.

We are about to celebrate a very auspicious holiday. One filled with somber attitudes, joyous revelations and the great company of family, friends and food. Thanksgiving is a holiday intended for the people of this great nation to honor and give thanks to Almighty God for His providence and blessing upon us as individuals and upon us as a nation.

We are truly blessed. And that blessing comes to us each as individuals in the form of freedom and liberty. We are born with such freedom and liberty as a child of God weather or not we believe in the Holy Father above or not. An atheist has the same freedom and God given rights as a devout Christian or Jew. In that respect, the Lord does not discriminate.

How does this relate to Health Care Reform from a logical standpoint? Simple. No matter what the issue is that we face as a nation or as individuals the same basic principle applies. You have the God given rights of freedom and liberty to do what you please in order to make your life as you see fit.

But when you get others who start to dictate what you can be and cannot be, when you have others breathing down your neck telling you what you can and cannot do and what you must and must not do, think or say, then you are denied the very freedom and liberty that God Himself bestowed upon you.

With that said, I must tell you, that because these rights are bestowed upon you by God at your birth (actually at your conception) you do not have the right to give them up to another man. And no one has the right to take them away.

Freedom and liberty has allowed man to do so many wonderful things throughout history. Yes, it is equally true that the same freedom and liberty has allowed man to do many equally horrible things. Which is why this kind of freedom and liberty is a responsiblity of the most high. You cannot wield such gifts with malace. All of mankind will suffer if you do.

And with that, here is the logical argument for Health Care Reform. Since the government has already and still wishes to limit your freedom, that is the cause for such disdain and inefficiency of our health care system. To truly reform our Health Care System, you need to return the freedom and liberty back to the people from which it was taken.

The health care industry is probably the most regulated industry in all the world, not just our nation. It has government rules and regulation up the wazzoo. This creates all kinds of problems as we see everywhere across the globe.

Government needs to get out of the health care business. It needs to leave it alone with minimal regulation. Yes, I said minimal regulation. Look, our system grew over the past 200 years without massive government intrusion and intervention and it only got better. Then came government over regulation and things started to go south.

Cost rose, people were denied insurance coverage and so on and so on. What we need to reform our system is government DE-regulation not more regulation. Its simple and logical. Return the freedom and liberty back to the people from whom you stole it and magical things will happen. Hey, after all we are a nation that was built from nothing to the most powerful on the planet with nothing more than our God given freedom and liberty.

I think that is proof enough of what Gods blessing can do for a nation.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.

The Real Ted Kennedy

Over the past week there has been a lot of talk about the late Edward M Kennedy. The "Liberal Lion" from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts succumbed to brain cancer last Tuesday night. He was diagnosed with the fatal cancer in May of 2008.

The eulogies were, as usual, farcical and false to a great extent. The tributes on TV and in the news for the most part seem to ignore the evil that the man was involved in. This is how legends get started. You take the life of a person and strip out the negative truth and what you are left with is something less than positive.

Many said Kennedy never spoke ill of anyone. That Kennedy got along with everyone. That Kennedy reached across the isle to forge positive relationships in order to accomplish what was best for the nation.

Those pundits ignore the letter Kennedy sent to the USSR during the Regan Administration saying that he (Kennedy) would do all in his power to see that Regan failed in his policies on the home front.

Those pundits ignore the fact that Kennedy personally attacked Robert Bork, one of Regan's nominees for the Supreme Court.

Those pundits forget that Kennedy allowed a young woman to drown because of his drunken ways.

Those pundits forget that Kennedy and some of his close relatives have been accused of sexual crimes and that some Kennedy relatives were convicted of sexual crimes.

Those pundits forget the slurred speeches over the years delivered by Kennedy.

Those pundits forget that Kennedy was anything but a perfect human being and was capable of cruel and evil and despicable things. His life history is full of such ill deeds.

No, I do not share in the positive morning for this man. May God have mercy on his soul because there are millions of people currently living and long since dead who would not show him mercy for Kennedy did not show mercy upon them.

God, guns, glory and freedom

Now I am sure you are thinking to yourself, not another post from some right wing whack nut about God and guns. Well, you would be wrong. But since you brought it up, what is wrong with God and guns? Absolutely nothing.

But what this article is about is your freedom, my freedom, the freedom of our children and their posterity. We have been given a great gift by God in the form of the United States of America. Are we a perfect nation? Hell no. Are we the best nation on the planet today and possibly in the history of man? Hell yes.

We were built on freedom and liberty. Our Founding Fathers saw fit to put into the Constitution things that would secure our freedom. Yet we seem to be willing to let our freedom go little by little and we say it is for the best.

We have now elected the most socialistic and radical President in our nation's history. Barack Obama is bent on destroying the very foundations in which our nation was built. But he is not the first.

We have anti gun laws in most states in our union. This is something that our Founding Fathers would never have stood for. Yet we modern Americans think it is for our safety. Despite the fact that gun laws only seem to keep fire arms out of the hands of law abiding citizens, not the criminals. This gives the criminal the upper hand. You can see every where the people are allowed to carry a gun, violent crime goes down. Great Britain banned hand guns for its citizens and its violent crime rate shot through the roof. So much for the safety of the public.

You now have a Governor proposing taxes that would have the Founding Fathers dumping cargo into bays and ports all over the country. NY Governor Patrick wants to put taxes on what you eat and what you do. This is surely not the kind of taxation with representation that our Founding Fathers had in mind. Remember one of the reasons they went to war with King George was over taxes and how unfair and burdensome they were to the American people. Now we have elected politicians who think the best way to solve fiscal problems is to raise our taxes instead of reducing their spending. And we re-elect these people?

We have gotten thought police as well. We now have "hate" crime laws. This gives some people more protection than others. How is that anti-hate when you seem to think that a gay man is worth more than a straight man. Who cares what was in the heart and mind of the criminal when they committed the crime. It was a crime against a HUMAN BEING, period. Hate crime laws fly in the face of the Constitution that says "all men are created EQUAL". This does not leave room for special laws for special people.

We have judges who write law now or force legislators to write law. This was not the intent in the Constitution either. How can you interpret a law that does not exist? You cannot. A judge, according to the Constitution, can only interpret existing law against the Constitution. That does not give the judge the right to force a new law upon the people. That job is for the legislature alone.

Yet we seem to elect the same buffoons to office time and time again. We talk about experience when we just elected one of the least experienced people to our highest office. But then again, this may not be such a bad thing. Our Founding Fathers did not believe in career politicians. They all served a short time and went back to private life. Our politicians today seem to think when they get elected its a life long job worthy of pensions and retirement pay.

And we now have selective discrimination. You can't have a Christmas tree or a Menorah on public property in many places now. Something about "separation of church and state." What a bunch of bunk. Those words do not appear anywhere in the Constitution. I challenge anyone to find those words in the Constitution. Placing a Christmas tree in front of city hall does not constitute the state endorsing a particular religion as the state religion. It is ridiculous how this has played out. Unless you are now some protected minority religion, you have no rights on public lands? Yet we re-elect the idiots who decide this stuff for us.

I am a Christian man. I say Merry Christmas and Jesus is the reason for the Season. If you get insulted, then it is not my problem. I say Happy Chanukah to some people who are Jewish. If that offends someone who is not Jewish, tough. I like guns and own one. If that offends you, too damn bad. I express my opinion freely. You don't like it then don't listen or don't read it.

This is the United States of America and I have the right to do, say and have these things. You don't have the right to shut me up or take them away. You do have the right not to listen. Just as I have a right not to listen to you. Notice I did not say I have a right not to "hear" you. You have a right to say almost anything you want, even call me a racist term and I will hear it, but just because you say it doesn't mean you have a right to have me listen. I can ignore you. You can ignore me, but neither of us can DENY the other of our rights. And that is what is happening today in our nation.

This is the land of the free and the home of the brave and I will gladly stand up and defend her any day. I stand for God, Family, Country. In that order. God gave me my family and my country and I have a God given right to defend them and I will. And I will do so by not voting for idiots who want to take those rights away from me. I will defend my rights by opposing what our elected officials want to do if what they want to do stomps on the Constitution. I don't care if you are Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, Liberal, Conservative, Moderate, Independent...it does not matter. You trash the Constitution and you and I have a major problem.

The Founding Fathers did not bleed red so that we could someday hand over our rights to a few elites in Capitols all over the land. The power was meant to stay in the hands of all the people not a few. So wake up. Stand up. Don't let your freedom slip away any further. Because if you do, you may find the only way to get it back is by bleeding yourself or worse, by the blood of your children. Now is that what you really want? I didn't think so. Oh and if it comes to that, you will need your gun.

Freedom is the cry of the oppressed

Some time ago, there was a man who came to us with the vision of freedom and equality for all.

No, I am not talking about Barack Obama. Although you would think that Obama, at first glance, would be a champion of freedom and liberty. But then you hear his words. His words like "spread the wealth around" are not the words of freedom. They are words of oppression.

I am talking about a great man. A man who did not live to see his DREAM become a reality. I am talking about a man who wanted us all to be equal under the laws of God. I am talking about a man who did not raise his fist in anger but in glory and power and peace. I am talking about Martin Luther King. Jr.

He had a dream. I have a dream. Do you have that dream?

Higher taxes are not the result of free men. Spreading the wealth around is not the action of a free man. The Fairness Doctrine is not a doctrine of free men. No, my fellow Americans that is not freedom.

We have gotten to the crest of that Mountain that Dr King envisioned. We have climbed long and hard to reach that mountain top. We have struggled and we have fought. We have suffered injury and casualty yet we still fought and we still climbed. We have overcome many an obstacle. We have fought back oppression and regression. We have stood in the face of evil and beat it back.

But now we come to the mountain top to see our freedom. To realize the dream. Only to have someone for whom that dream was meant, be raised to a position to strip that dream from us. We are so close, yet we are so far. It is as if that mountain was thrust upward another mile into the sky. But yet we will continue that climb.

We will rise above all that which wants to keep us low. We will climb. We will fight for all that is good and just. We will climb. We will have the holy wind of God at our backs even though the evil fire of Satin himself blows in our face. Yes, we will climb. We will climb that mountain. And when we reach that mountain top again, we will not let anyone keep us in the fog. No we will climb to a clear mountain top where the sky is bright and clear and we will see that freedom which all men long for. We will see the freedom that God intended for all men. We will see and fulfill that dream. The dream that Dr. King had. The dream that he passed on to his children. The dream that was given to him by God.

And when that day comes, we as a nation, as a people will sing "We are free at last, Thank God Almighty, we are FREE at last."

Who Would Jesus Vote For, and why would He vote for them

What is Liberty and Freedom? Seriously, what is it? To some it means being able to do anything that they damned well please without any restriction. To some liberty is to do things that they think does not affect or effect anyone around them.

Liberty is not being able to do anything you want. Liberty is not something that is GIVEN by government. Freedom is not free nor is it cheap nor does it come without responsibility. It is precious. It is valuable and we are losing it.

Liberty and Freedom are given as a gift to us by God Himself. Uh Oh! Rod is going biblical on us now is what you are probably thinking. Rod is one of THOSE people. Weak minded Christian. Well yes I am a Christian. I do not shirk from my beliefs.

I believe that Jesus was the greatest Conservative that ever walked the earth. God gave us laws to live by in the bible that keep us from bondage. If we follow these things, these laws that God has set fourth we don't need extra laws set out by man.

Look around you. You are being “lawed” to death. Every time you turn around, someone wants to pass another law that regulates your behavior. They propose a law that will regulate your thoughts. You think this is not the case.

We have laws on the books called “hate crimes.” What is a hate crime? And if a deadly crime is committed against you or a loved one but you are not one of the protected classes, does that make your life less valuable? In the eyes of the Liberal, yes you are not worth as much.

You have to be black, or at least look black. You have to be gay, Jewish, fat, etc. You just can't be a regular human being. Why do you think some groups try so hard to get their group included in the classes of special protection people? It gives them power over you.

If you stand up and fight against them, they claim hate speech. If you fight against their agenda, they claim you are a hater. If you try and live your life without them, they claim you are a hateful segregationist.

They pass laws to force you to send you children to schools you don't want your kids to go to. They pass laws forcing schools, colleges and businesses to institute quotas. They pass laws that keep qualified people down in order to raise someone less qualified.

They are most likely less qualified because they pass laws that kept their parents from sending them to better public or private schools.

Every time you turn around there is someone who wants to take control of your life. They want to make it harder or impossible for you to home school your own child. They pass laws that keep your pastor, your preacher, your Holy Father from speaking up or out against them. If they do, they lose their tax exempt and non-profit status.

The worst part about all of this is that you and I vote for these people who wish to limit our liberty. We put those people in public office then scream foul when they do what they told us they were going to do. They were going to help us do this or keep others from doing that. Our taxes go up to pay for this and we have to pay a higher fee in order to do that. Yet we go to the polling places election year after election year and vote for the very people we scream about on a daily basis.

God told us about this. He said if we ask for wicked men we will get wicked men. If we ask for evil rulers then we will get evil rulers. We ask for the wicked, we ask for the evil every time we vote for them.

Why do we vote for them? Because they make us FEEL good about ourselves. They tell us that in order to considered a good person you have to FEEL. Forget logic. Forget about God and His laws. Forget that there is order in the universe. Do what you FEEL is the right thing. Even thought what you feel may change next year, it is what you feel right now that counts.

Even if your feelings don't make a lick of sense, go with it. Feel your pain. Feel my pain. Feel the plight of the wronged. Feel the evil of the good. Feel the hate of the logical. Feel, feel, feel. Forget logic.

Forget reason. Forget the Constitution. Forget Gods laws that protect us. Forget your sense of right and wrong. Forget, forget, forget!

Oh no, we have forgotten too much. We have given up too much. We have given over our very lives and now we wonder how do we get our lives back. And when we say we want our lives back, the one we voted for does not want to give it back. They don't want to give up power over our lives.

So what do they do? They give us more laws. They restrict how we can speak out against them. They offer to take care of us by taking over parts of our lives completely (health care). They want us to turn over our children to them so they can educate them. Forget that their education system has been a proven failure for at least the last 50 years.

They believe us to be children, stupid ignorant children. They should know because they educated us in the public schools. They tell us that Hollywood is more important to watch that Washington, DC. They blame Hollywood for giving us programing that glorified violence instead of telling us how bad violence is.

They want to protect us from ourselves by making laws that force us to do things we may not want to do. (Wearing seat belts, no smoking in a bar) They take over our own property by telling us what we can do with that property.

Oh no, we are to blame for our lack of liberty today. We are to blame for our lack of freedom today. Oh no, we cannot blame George W Bush for the Patriot Act. We demanded to be secure. We demanded that we be safe. We demanded that President Bush act to keep us and our children safe.

He gave us what we wanted. And we voted for those who allowed this law to go into affect. Yet we now complain about this law. But do we vote for those who would get rid of this law? No! We vote for the same people who approved his law.

Oh no, we cannot blame Washington, DC for our troubles. Oh no, we cannot blame the politician for our troubles. Oh no, we cannot point a finger at other nations for our troubles. We are our own troubles. Oh yes, we have done this to ourselves.

Oh yes, we have a chance to start changing this evil trend. We have to stop feeling and start thinking again. We have to look at the candidates for all levels of government and ask which ones want to bring back liberty. Which ones want less government in our lives. Which one believes that God has already given us the laws we need to live by. Which one believes that we can take care of ourselves. Which one wants to let me do what I think is best for my life. Which one. Which one?

If you vote for Hillary Clinton, then you are a fool. She does not believe you can do or live without her help.

If you vote for Barack Obama, then you are a fool. No he cannot. No he cannot do a damned thing unless you vote him into office. He will take over your life and you will scream foul at 3 AM.

If you vote for John McCain, then you are a fool. War hero or not. He put into place some laws that limit your liberty your freedom. He trampled on the Constitution by helping to craft and pass a law that takes power away from you and gives it to special interest groups and companies. He did not take the money out of politics, he just made it bigger.

So who do you vote for? I cannot tell you that. You have to THINK logically for yourself this time. You have a brain. God gave us all a brain. Now is the time to use that brain to bring some true law and order and liberty back to our streets. Back to our homes, families and neighborhoods.

Think. Ask. Vote. Be logical. In fact, a saying from the past few years fits for our times right now, although with a bit of a tweak.

Who Would Jesus Vote For?! That person deserves your vote and guess what? You will protect your liberty when you do.

Think. Ask. Vote.
