A Blue Moon

Have you ever heard the saying "Once in a Blue Moon"? I am sure you have even if you are only 10 years old. It means a chance of a lifetime or at least an opportunity that does not come around very often in a lifetime.

That is what we have going into the year of our Lord; 2010. You see, we will have a full moon on New Years Eve. Now that in and of itself is not unusual. However, it will be the SECOND full moon in the month of December. That second full moon in a single month is called a Blue Moon. And that kind of full moon happens only once in every 19 years or so.

So the next Blue Moon wont happen until the year 2028 or 2029. That is a long time. It is an opportunity to revel at the marvel that God has created for us. Think about it, you get to ring in a new year with a full moon. Also something that is rare.

This has great significance. OK, so maybe I am stretching a bit, but think about this. A Blue Moon is rare and is an opportunity you don't want to miss. Just as in 2010 we have an opportunity to take back our country from the tryanicle and radical left wing nut jobs.

Yes, November 2010 can be a turning point for good in our nation. We can turn back the tide of hate and socialism in our nation and we can make sure it stays on that course...the course of freedom and liberty for at least a generation maybe two.

What we do in 2010 will affect and effect our kids, grandchildren and even our great-grandchildren. What we do in 2010 may even affect and effect the grandchildren of our great-grandchildren. I kid you not. We could touch 5 generations of our families by what we do in 2010. That is roughly 100 years. A century. (And for those who think the world will end in 2012, it was just a movie.)

Now before you go and say 100 years is a long time and nothing we do can affect those so far in the future, look back to the year 1910. Oh, you probably were not alive in that year. Since 1910 we have had two World Wars. I am betting most of you reading this were not born until AFTER World War II.

But what happened in 1910 and 1917 and 1941 and 1945 has affected you in ways you cant even imagine right now. Not to mention a whole century has gone by in a blink of an eye. Most of us never even had the chance to meet relatives that were alive in 1910. They were dead and gone long before we were born. Yet what they did in that year affects us to this very day.

Will we sit by and let history pass us by because we didn't think what we do in 2010 will affect those in 2110? Will we be selfish and only think of what we want today? Will we not care what our posterity will have to live through simply because we wont be alive to witness? I hope not.

As you look back on the year that was 2009, think about all the missed opportunities you had. Think about how different your life might have been if you had but had the guts to take hold of one of those opportunities. Would you be wealthier, smarter, better off? Probably so.

Now look ahead. Do you really want to sit and contemplate about all the missed opportunities you had in 2010? Do you really just want to sit through another year of words and speeches? I hope not.

Take advantage while you still can. You may not have the opportunity tho change America again for another generation...another Blue Moon.

Happy New Year. Now lets go make history. Lets go and Clean House.

When Saturday Comes to New England

It is no secret that I call New England home. It is not secret that I call the great state of New Hampshire my home. And it is no secret that I currently reside just outside the state capitol of Concord.

What is a secret is what I do on Saturdays here in New England. I do what every other citizen of our nation does. I try to relax and have some fun. I exorcise my Liberty and my Freedom.

In New England through out the Summer and Autumn months you will find celebrations called "Old Home Day". This is really something that many other parts of the country may call "Town Fairs" or maybe even "Town or City Field Days".

Here in New England many towns celebrate their "birthday". What you usually get with this is a small town parade, merchants with special sales, maybe even a BBQ on the Town Square or Town Green. It is a typical New England tradition.

Hey, we will celebrate with a parade and food at the drop of a hat. We will use our kids to give us the excuse to participate in silly races such as potato sack racing and other activities including, but not limited to, face painting and hot dog eating contests.

This is America after all. We have a reason to celebrate at the drop of a hat. We have a reason to recall the founding of our town, our city, our state, our nation. We have a reason to spend our Saturday over eating. Its called Freedom.

And just think of this. We are a nation where it is very easy to "get there from here". So we don't have to limit our celebrating to just our own town or city. We can travel to another town, another city even another state and participate and revel. We are the United States of America.

We have fought, we have shed our own blood, we have sacrificed so much so we deserve to be able to celebrate whenever and whenever we want. Most other nations on the planet cannot say that. Most other nations on the planet cannot compare. In fact when it comes to Liberty and Freedom, no other nation on the planet can compare.

We don't have to worry about authority breaking up our fun. We don't have to worry about a Pontiff, a Potentate, a dictator encroaching in on our fun.

We can even decide that a simple protest of our very government is going to be the fun of the day.

I say, go out and about. Travel the roadways to a different town. Make merry and celebrate your freedom. Express your pleasure and gratitude of the sacrifices of the past for it is those sacrifices that allow you, that give you the ability and the right to do just as you please on your Saturday.

Enjoy your America. Enjoy your freedom. But just remember there are those who stalk in the shadows, in the alleys, in the dark doorways who have only one thing on their mind. To remove you from your freedom and liberty. So celebrate today and on Monday get back to work preserving your freedom so that come the next Saturday, you have the Liberty to celebrate again.

Isn't America a wonderful place? I think so. Now I'm off to celebrate. What are you going to do with your Freedom and Liberty this Saturday?

What the Pledge Means to Me.

There has been a lot of talk and argument about Barak Obama and his allegiance. Why does he not solute the flag? Why does he not stand and show his support for the Pledge of Allegiance? Is he not Patriotic? Does he pledge his allegiance to someone or something else?

We can only speculate on what goes on in his mind. But his actions do speak louder than his words. But you also have to stop and ask yourself. Where does your allegiance lie? Do you truly hold your hand over your heart and recite the Pledge whenever you hear it? Do you focus on what it means to pledge to your nation?

Well I have thought about it and here is what the Pledge of Allegiance means to me.

I Pledge Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America...
I will stand and defend her with my very life because she has given me so much and others deserve to have what I have enjoyed. I pledge to defend her at anytime and anywhere.

And to the Republic for which it stands...
The flag represents the United States of America. The flag is the symbol for which I pledge my allegiance and my life to defend.

One Nation...
We are 50 small States that stand UNITED under one Federal Government and know that United we Stand, and Divided we Fall.

Under God...
The Founding Fathers were not deists but rather God fearing Christian believing men. They put fourth a Republic that took many of its principles directly from the Bible.

Indivisible...
No matter what, we are one people, no matter where we come from. That United we are stronger than any enemy and we cannot be broken.

With Liberty and Justice for all.
We are strong because we have liberty. We are free because we have justice. We grow because we strive to provide liberty and justice for all of our citizens no matter the color of their skin.

That pledge is what sends a tingly feeling up my leg every time I hear it. There is no greater nation on the planet. I will stand and defend that nation with my life if need be because the USA is worth it. Period. Now where does your allegiance lie?

Im Right on Obama. Prove Im Wrong

I was taking the entire summer off. But this Obama thing has really got me in a tizzy to coin an old fashioned term. I am still waiting for someone...anyone to tell me exactly why they support this man for President of the United States of America.

All I can get in reply is sound bites. “He will change things.” “He will end the war (battle) of Iraq.” “He will make the world love us again since GW has the world hating us.” I ask how he plans on doing this and people actually get mad at me.

They call me a racist. Then I have to point out to them I am a black man so by their own definition I cannot be a racist. Then they call me a Bush lover and I point out how many things I disagree with GW on including most of the Patriot Act.

Then they claim I am just blind and stupid and I have to point out that I know that there only 50 States in our Union not 57 as Obama has once claimed. So that leaves me with the burning question. What does this guy stand for? What do his supporters know about him and why the hell do they support him.

Lets face it. This guys is a racist. He hates half of himself. Yes people, he is not a “Black” man. He is half white. His mother is ALL white. That makes him HALF white and HALF black. He is also not a descendant of slaves as most blacks in this country are. He grew up in a rather privileged life. By that token, since I am the son of a career military man, I also did not really grow up in the inner city. Although I have spent a few years of my life living in a city called Buffalo, NY. I attended public school number 31 in that city for part of my 1st and 4th grade and all of my 8th grade years. Do I know what its like to live and play and be scared in such an environment? Yes I do.

Barry has not had to deal with such things. Yet he will run around and tell Europe that our country has never been represented by someone who looks like him before. What about Secretary Powell and Secretary Rice? I guess they are not “black” enough. But then I would argue that those two Americans are more black than Barry.

What about the men and women of our military who are black? They represent our nation. And I am certain that most of them are far more black than Obama. In fact many of them come from the inner city.

Plus I have this issue with Barry making all kinds of simple mistakes. These exact same mistakes have labeled President Bush as an idiot. Yet Liberals still view Barry as brilliant. They make excuses for him like he has had little sleep. What the hell do you think the President does? You think he gets 10 hours of sleep every night?

Hell no. Being president is one tough job. Look at all the men who enter the office with full un-gray hair and leave 4 or 8 years later almost white haired. Its a tough job and you often get very little if any sleep. If this guy makes these kinds of mistakes while only on the campaign trail, what kind of really important mistakes will he make while sitting in the Oval Office?

Right now we take pot shots at his mistakes. But once he is in office, people will die for mistakes like that. This is serious folks. You have to think about the people of this country. You have to think about the two candidates realistically. No McCain is not an ideal candidate but we now have to go for the lesser of two evils.

Sorry to say that at this juncture it is McCain that is the lesser of two evils. Worse yet is that compared to Obama, McCain is a total Saint.

Oh, and I can say all this about Barry because I am black. I also am part Native American so I can speak for them as well. They don't want Barry in the White House either. Blacks only support him because he is black but he is not like them. And they lack the knowledge of history of the Democrat party as the racist pigs they truly are. Doubt me, then who blocked civil rights for over 100 years? The Democrat party.

I am more qualified to be president than Obama. And I am sorely under qualified. So where does that put him? You think I am wrong? Then tell me specifically why I am wrong. I dare you. I know you can't because you know I am right.

The most dangerous threat to Liberty can be you.

What is one of the biggest threats to your personal liberty? I mean have you really stopped to think about this? Well, do this the next time you are out and about. You could be at work or shopping at the mall or just out for a drive on a sunny afternoon. Just do this and you will see what I am about to write about.

How do people act and react to you? How do you act and react to others you come into contact with? Do you drive like a maniac or do you allow time and distance for safety? Do you open the door for others or hold it when they are right behind you? How many times have you had a door “dropped” on you as you approached it?

You are probably saying these are nothing but examples of common courtesy. Or rather the lack there of. So what does this have to do with my personal liberty and freedom?

I will tell you it has plenty to do with it. Why do you think we have so many laws on the books? Think about it. It has been estimated that there have been more new laws put on the books in the last 20 years than the there have been the previous 210 plus years of our nations history.

Many of those laws come about because people seem to be lacking in simple human courtesy and decency. How many times have you seen something or had something happen to you and then you retort “there should be a law against that.”

Come on now. Every time you say that, you give some political hack the power to restrict your freedom. I will tell you that you may have said it once or twice about someone else but there have been at least twice as many folks who have said the same thing in response to something you did or didn't do.

All of these laws get put onto the books and they restrict your freedom. Your liberty. I bet you didn't know that it was against the law to spit in public. It is against the law to leave your car running while you run into the store for a pack of gum. It is against the law to curse in public or in front of children. It is against the law to do many things that we would normally just consider to be rude or crude.

Well you may think that some rude or crude things should be against the law. Well, some of the very things you do may also be someday against the law. Things that limit your freedom and put you in danger of losing your freedom and/or your money in the form of fines. Plus you will end up with a record.

The other problem with so many laws is than many Americans don't even know when they actually break the law simply because they don't know there is a law against their actions. Cell phones in cars is one that many states are looking into. It doesn't matter if you think that talking on cell phones is dangerous while driving. Soon you will find laws that restrict you from eating, being distracted by anything, and maybe even talking with others in the car.

You think that cannot happen. Some states already say that 16 and 17 year old drivers cannot have friends or anyone under the age of 18 in the car with them while they drive. Do you think that will stop with teen drivers?

When you hand over your rights to a politician for anything, you will soon find yourself with out rights you did not bargain to give up. Laws cannot and should not be enacted to take the place of common sense or common decency.

We already have gated communities that prevent you from flying the American flag other than on Flag day, Veterans day and July 4. Who would have thought there would be rules and laws that ban flying the American Flag? Where does this nonsense stop? Who is going to stop it?

So the next time you start to say, there should be a law, stop and think, do you really want to give up any more of your freedom and liberty? Because if you do, then be prepared for them to enact a law that limits what you do at some point in time. And the time you will find out about it is when a cop gives you a ticket or a court summons.

Now do you really think there should be a law against common decency?
